BAU Meeting / debate evening The Art of a Citizens Budget

On monday May 30th the group De Kunst van het Burgerbudget - in collaboration with BAU Dance & Performance at Veem House for Performance  - will engage with artists, art specialists, cultural organizations and policymakers in a joint discussion on the issues and opportunities of inviting the public to decide on the budget for arts and culture.


Can the establishment of a Citizens Budget for the Arts increase public involvement in the arts? And if so, can experiment, diversity and quality be guaranteed?


If you would like to play an active role in finding new ways to finance the Arts and engage in a discussion about how the participation of the greater society in Arts can grow in the future or are you just curious? With guest speakers David Bade (visual artist and co founder of Instituto Buena Bista / platform for contemporary Art on Curaçao), Anna Tilroe (art critic, writer and artistic director of 11Fountains, an international art project for Leeuwarden Cultural Capital of Europe 2018) and Tanja Mlaker (director of Cultuur Eindhoven)


The team De Kunst van het Burgerbudget consists of members of the education programme LinC (Leadership in the Cultural sector) initiated by the University of Utrecht. They investigate this theme by raising questions, exploring opportunities and engaging with artists, funding bodies, policymakers and audiences.
