Bâtard Festival Amsterdam – Day 2

For the second time in its existence this Brussels festival extends its time and space from Beursschouwburg in Brussels to Veem House in Amsterdam. A festival presenting international emerging makers and thinkers. On Day 2 Anne-Lis Le Gac & Élie Ortis and Ruben Desiere will show works.

Anne-Lis Le Gac & Élie Ortis | Le Grand Mal

It starts with a collection of non-professional dance videos found on the internet. They are called Danses Glocales. The collection has become a Conversation between Elie Ortis and Anne Lise le Gac. Most of the time, it happens “online”, because Elie lives in Paris and Anne Lise in Marseille. This conversation is called Grand Mal and is endless. Material is gathered with joy / shamelessly and the conversation is set to be shared with an audience, from time to time. You are with two solitudes. The Essays by Montaigne came into play and the music by Gigi d’Agostino became obvious. Grand mal is a conversation, a toolbox, a wall, an attitude.

Ruben Desiere | Kosmos

Impressive documentary with fictional elements that stays close to the characters and their environment. Roma Kevin Mroc and his family’s struggles – threatened by eviction from their squatted home – are freely combined with the story Kosmos by Witold Gombrowicz.

About Bâtard

Het Brusselse Bâtard Festival heeft een reputatie: het laat altijd vernieuwend, verrassend, schurend werk van aanstormende performance makers zien die je in de jaren daarna vaak ziet opduiken op de grotere internationale festivals. Twee jaar geleden migreerde het Brusselse festival Bâtard voor het eerst naar Amsterdam. Dit jaar op 8, 9, 10 en 11 november doet het dat weer en vindt voor de tweede keer Bâtard Festival Amsterdam plaats in Veem House for Performance.

Bâtard staat voor bastaard. Maar ook voor hybride, voor niet te duiden, voor rauw en cutting-edge werk. De titel Bâtard doet nooit genoeg recht: Bâtard is – net als het werk dat ze presenteert – niet in een hokje te passen. Sterker nog, het weigert elk mogelijk hokje of bevraagt deze.

Wat we wel met zekerheid kunnen zeggen is dat ook dit jaar weer spraakmakende kunstenaars in Brussel en Amsterdam te zien zijn zijn met twaalf voorstellingen. En dat in beide steden uiteenlopend werk te zien is van dans tot cinema, dat er wederom een Bâtard-readermet inspirerende teksten wordt gepresenteerd en dat we af sluiten met een dansbaar feest.

About Anne Lise Le Gac & Élise Carron

Anne Lise Le Gac heeft een achtergrond in de beeldende kunst, maar maakt vandaag voornamelijk performatief werk. Samen met Élise Carron zat ze in 2015 achter het festival OKAY CONFIANCE, in Marseille. Élie Ortis is kleermaker en clubber.

About Ruben Desiere

Ruben DESIERE (1990, België) volgde een filmopleiding in Gent. In 2014 rondde hij zijn master af met Kosmos.
