for professional dance and movement artists in Amsterdam 

Creative Crossroads – Cycle 2 (01/01/2025 – 31/12/2026)

Veem House for Performance in Amsterdam opens a call for one professional dance and movement artist based in Amsterdam, for Creative Crossroads Cycle 2 (two year cycle from the 1st of January 2025 till the 31st of December 2026). All within the framework of the 4-year Life Long Burning (LLB) – Futures Lost and Found project, supported by Creative Europe programme of the European Union

What is Life Long Burning? 

LLB is a multi-annual cooperation project implemented by 12 partner organizations. In addition to the coordinator danceWEB (AT), the partnership comprises dance houses, festivals, choreographic centers and networks as well as production houses. http://www.lifelongburning.eu/ 

 

What is Creative Crossroads program and its goals?

Within LLB, Creative Crossroads offers tailor-made support for emerging and mid-career artists. Each participating network partner commits to support an artist or artist collective for 2 years and – together with the network – offers the artist support available with the means of the network. 

The goals of the program are: to provide stability for an extended period of time by sharing resources and dividing tasks; improve the selected artists’/collectives’ structural context; give opportunity to work in an international environment, hence expanding the artists’ network and boost its development.

 

What’s the offer?

  • residency opportunities at the LLB network partners (at any phase of a project, not necessarily a production);
  • 5 000 EUR financial support in the form of a co-production fee from Veem House, free to use on a project within the 2 years long cycle;
  • Paid attendance of the kick-off meeting on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2024 in Zagreb;
  • international networking opportunity, including introduction to curators and presenters, project partners, international peers and artistic communities;
  • continuous consultations with Veem House to ensure that the support reflects the current needs of the selected artist;
  • administrative and infrastructural support.

 

Who can apply?

  • artists active in the Dutch contemporary dance scene and living in Amsterdam
  • emerging and mid-career artists who can demonstrate that their benefit from the two-year support would bring a milestone in their career and long-term plans
  • individual artists (applications for more than one person cannot be accommodated)
  • confident level of written and spoken English is a requirement

Date of public announcement through the LLB network: 15th of September 2024

The program starts with a kick-off meeting on the 22nd and 23rd of november 2024 in Zagreb, where the selected artists and the network partners in Life long Burning will meet all together. It is a requirement that the selected artist is available to attend the meeting.

In the application form we ask the following questions:

  • General information (Name, email, phone number)
  • About the Artist – maximum of 300 words
  • Artistic plans for the upcoming years (01/01/2025 – 31/12/2026). Like a new creation, new production, research, educational activities, etc. – maximum of 1.000 words

 

  • [OPTIONAL] Detailed project presentation – What would you like to highlight from the activity plans for the next years? Select one project (not necessarily a production/new creation, it can also be a research, educational activity, cultural project, etc.) and fill out the relevant points
    • Short project description [optional] – maximum of 500 words
    • Planned dates, periods and places of creation/ project implementation [optional]
  • [OPTIONAL] Attachments
    • Possibility to link to an artist dossier/portfolio (an online version/ website (link))
    • Possibility to insert active links to video’s/registrations of earlier works (max. two)

 

How we decide?

Veem House’s team will review all applications and forward to a selection committee of: a previous Creative Crossroad artist and delegates from Veem House. 

 

The following aspects will be considered:

  • quality of the materials provided in the application 
  • clarity and feasibility of the artistic plans 
  • fit between the artists plans, Veem House and LLB’s mission, also considering the partners and previous programs’ aims and profiles
  • the amount to which the program (LLB) could support the implementation of the artist’s plans at this point of their career
