Marga Kroodsma is leaving Veem House for Performance

After more than five years of being Artistic and Managing Director of Veem House for Performance, Marga Kroodsma has decided to embark on a new endeavor. The 1^st of March 2024 is the official day to say farewell.

Marga: ‘Working together with an enthusiastic team was an adventure and absolute privilege that enabled us to continually discover new paths to cross and form special connections.

We created space for experiment and research, with a focus on encounters and exchange. I am proud of the determination with which we continuously pursued “space, time and attention” so much needed for growth of artistic proposals.

Veem House is a place where radical imagination and artistic development come together. With a contemporary approach and focus on human dimension, we were able to set things in motion during challenging times and be a home for mime, dance and performance artists from the Netherlands and abroad.

The works of innovative artists are crucial for the times we live in now. They provide a context where people can ask the questions that need to be asked and propose ideas that allow thoughts to drift freely.

Veem House keeps moving and from 2024 onwards it will transform into an Artist Run House. Artists will be given independent space and Artistic Fellows will determine the artistic direction. It is the right time for me to look for a new horizon and be open en curious about what it will bring.

My gratitude goes out to all the inspiring artists I have had the privilege to work with. They opened up their early research, showed courage and offered me new perspectives on theater and the world.

A big thank you to the board that often invisibly supports a house that facilitates many wishes. My admiration also goes out to our engaging audience, the curious critics and the active community of Veem House.

Finally, a warm word to all partners, including the European Life Long Burning Network, Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, and the leading ladies of GREENHOUSE in particular.

Veem House will continue to develop as an Artist Run House in 2024. The board appoints a coordinator (kwartiermaker) to coordinate the intended organizational change. The next step follows after submitting the Kunstenplan 2025-2028 in January.
