Mette Edvardsen
The work of the Norwegian choreographer, dancer and performance artist Mette Edvardsen is both profound and witty, sober and rich in detail. Over the past ten years, she has created a coherent series of performances, almost all of which were staged at Kaaistudios. It began in 2002 with Private collection, a performance about how we organise, collect and arrange things. In it, Edvardsen played with presence and absence, transformation and disappearance. In the trilogy Black (2011), No Title (2014) and We to be (2015) she explored the possibilities and limits of language in both real and imagined space. Edvardsen looked at what is not there in order to set thoughts and fantasies in motion. In her new solo – and anagram – oslo, Edvardsen once again plays with language, time and space. She extends the concept of the solo into the entire theatre space, where thoughts, words, things and actions multiply.
