Sharing Grief

Veem

As you may know, Veem as we know it is coming to an end. While endings often bring the promise of new beginnings, they also deserve to be properly acknowledged and grieved.

As artists, resilience often becomes second nature, and the familiarity with precariousness sometimes leaves little room for collective mourning. Yet, as with trees in a forest—interconnected through an underground network that supports and nurtures one another—when one tree struggles or falls, the entire network feels it. Similarly, in times of loss, sharing grief can make the burden lighter, allowing us to move forward together with renewed strength.

For Veem’s final event, we will host a salon dedicated to collective loss, grief, and mourning. We invite artists whose work already touches on these themes—whether personal, structural, or political—to share a 10-minute performance. This gathering will be an evening of reflection and connection, acknowledging not only the challenges of our current times but also the enduring commitment to creating art in the face of adversity.

We will showcase the work of nine artists during the evening, framed by a brief introduction to set the tone for this unique gathering. Together, let us create a space where grief can be shared, connections deepened, and transitions honored. Let us claim this space so that we can better embrace change, welcome the new, and invite the unknown.
